Theory
Our main enterprise is theoretical cosmology. We work on topics ranging from early universe string theory to numerical simulations of structure formation. Over the past 20 years, we have consistently written about 50 papers a year. A compilation of our papers is here.

Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS)

We are actively involved in many aspects of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We have led analyses extracting statistics of the large scale structure in the universe and understanding the implications of this for cosmology. We are also looking for distant supernovae in SDSS and have played a major role in developing some of the important software pipelines.

Dark Energy Survey

The Theory Group has been instrumental in pushing forward with a new optical survey in the Southern Hemisphere. The proposed survey is designed to measure the abundance and properties of galaxy clusters. This information can then be used to learn about dark energy.

Supernova Acceleration Probe (SNAP)

Fermilab has joined this satellite mission, which is advocated by both NASA and the Department of Energy. The satellite will enable us to detect thousands of distant supernovae and measure the shapes of very distant galaxies. These are two separate ways of studying dark energy.
