The origin of cosmic ray particle continues to pose deep questions for cosmic particle physics. Shocks in the formation of the large scale structure accelerate particles. Shocks caused by relativistic jets accelerate may produce the highest particle energies observed, 50 Joule in probably a single proton. Shocks produces by Galactic supernova explosions, and perhaps also Galactic gamma ray bursts may produce all the galactic cosmic rays. There is a comprehensive proposal to explain why all cosmic ay particle properties, and many of the predictions have been checked. We will review all of these options, and emphasize the latest developments in supernova physics. The next experimental checks will be possible with the first results from AMANDA/ICECUBE, MAGIC/HESS, and AUGER!
