Public Lecture, Banquet, and Accommodations

Each participant will receive one ticket for admission to a public lecture given by Stephen Hawking at the Arie Crown Theatre, which is in the McCormick Place Convention Center, on Friday night, 29 January.

There will be a banquet at the Adler Planetarium, which is near the McCormick Place Convention Center, on Saturday night, 30 January, to which all registered participants are invited. The after-dinner speaker is Alan Sandage. The new galleries at the planetarium will be open to tour. Guests of participants may also attend the banquet at a charge of $50 per guest. A block of rooms for Symposium and Workshop participants has been reserved at the Hyatt Hotel at the McCormick Place Convention Center, situated half way between the University of Chicago campus and downtown. Transportation by bus between the hotel and the Max Palevsky Cinema will be provided. The cost for both a single or double room is $89 beginning the night of 28 January. This rate will only be available if bookings are made between between 15 October and 8 January. Reservations can be made by calling (800) 233-1234 or direct to the hotel at (312) 567-1234.

Early arrivals at the Hyatt can pick up their registration packets at the Pritzker Symposium Hospitality Suite on Thursday, January 28th from 5:00pm - 10:00pm.

The Hyatt Hotel is now full. We have reserved a block of rooms at the Ramada Inn Lake Shore in Hyde Park. Transportation by bus between the hotel and the Max Palevsky Cinema will be provided. They are accepting reservations between 9:00 am & 5:00 pm, January 18 - 22 only, at 800-237-4933. The rate is $85/day and ask for the Pritzker Symposium block.

Attendees on the University of Chicago campus may pick up their registration packets at the Astronomy & Astrophysics Department Office AAC 118 on Wednesday and Thursday January 27 & 28 from 9:00am - 4:00pm.

The Symposium and Workshop will be held in the Max Palevsky Cinema, which is in Ida Noyes Hall, 1212 E 59th St., between Woodlawn and Kimbark Avenues.

Transportation

Keeshin buses will begin boarding 15 minutes prior to departure. The Ramada Inn Lake Shore have their own shuttle service to campus which they are modifying for our use.

Friday 29: Those staying in Hyde Park for dinner Friday night can catch a cab ($5 - $6) or take the Metra Commuter Train ($1.95) directly to the Arie Crown Theatre (McCormick Place) from the following Hyde Park stops:

59th Street - 7:22pm
57th/56th/55th Streets - 7:24pm
53rd/51st Streets - 7:26pm
The Ramada shuttle will pick up at the Arie Crown Theatre after the Hawking lecture, approximately 9:30pm.

Saturday 30: Leave Adler Planetarium by 10:00pm (after banquet) - arrive Hyatt, continue to Ramada.
