The workshop will be held in Fermilab which is about 35 miles from downtown Chicago where the Texas Symposium on Relativistic Astrophysics will be held. It would be inconvenient to stay in The Palmer House and attend the workshop (but see below) and we therefore recommended that you make arrangements for accommodation closer to Fermilab.
Fermilab has on-site accommodations located in the Fermilab Village, although availability is often a problem. In addition to apartments and houses reserved for long-term residents, dormitory-type rooms are available at the rate of $12 to $15 per night. Each room has a single bed and telephone, with central shower/bath facilities, kitchens, and lounge areas located within each dormitory. Reservations for rooms may be made through the Housing Office, located in Aspen East, at (630) 840-3777 or by e-mail at HOUSING@FNAL.GOV.
There may be a limited number of "donated" accommodations available for graduate students. If you are interested note this in the comments section of the registration form or correction form.
There are a number of motels located near Fermilab. Reservations should be made directly with the motel of your choice.
To get from The Palmer House to Fermilab takes time and money. It would take about 1.5 hours each way and cost $35/day to commute via train and taxi from The Palmer House to Fermilab, less if several people are traveling together. It might be more economical in time and/or money to rent a car from The Palmer House each day. If there is anyone interested in this option let us know and we will put more details here.
