Solar Neutrino Workshop
Workshop on
Solar Neutrino Experiments
April 26 - 27 ................ Fermilab
The scientific staff at Fermi National Laboratory is very interested
in the developments that are occurring in the field of Solar Neutrinos.
In addition to a natural curiosity about this important field of
research, some members of the Laboratory would like to investigate the
possibility of a mutually beneficial arrangement between one or more
external experimental groups and a small group of scientists within
the Laboratory. We are thinking of a limited association, comparable
to the participation of a university group in a typical Fermilab
experiment. One potential for cooperation between Fermilab and the
solar neutrino community might revolve around the Soudan mine, where
Fermilab will mount a very large detector for a long-baseline experiment
searching for oscillations in a neutrino beam from Fermilab.
Perhaps it is possible to use the Soudan mine for an even longer baseline
experiment searching for oscillations in neutrinos of solar origin.
For this purpose, we have planned a two-day workshop ``Solar Neutrino Experiments.'' The workshop will be held at Fermilab on April 26-27, 1996. The workshop is aimed at those familiar with the
basic issues in solar neutrinos and will focus on options for both
near-term and long-term future experiments.
There will be a $40 registration fee which will also cover the cost of dinner Friday evening.
